I’ve always loved John Lennon’s song, Imagine. It’s message of unity—to me, it’s the perfect holiday song. This is my 20th year designing a new ornament and I’m celebrating Lennon’s message with Imagine and Create because imagining by itself is not enough. No matter my age or where I’m at in life, I have gifts and talents that can be put into actions large and small that create a more loving world.

For this ornament, every background is handwritten including words of love and empowerment. The words “imagine” and “create” are also hand lettered. Plus, create is on the construction side of the ornament. You can see the seams, the paper overlaps. It is not as pristine like the imagine side. There will be flaws. As an artist and community volunteer, I constantly see how imperfect the creative process is. And that can be frustrating, even disappointing. And yet, that is the only way anything gets done! LOL! And this is where I surrender. Perfection does not exist. Whatever I may be working on, my prayer is that the universe’s loving presence shines through even in the imperfections.
